You will be involved throughout the entire design and implementation process. Depending on the project scale, there will be several milestones at which you will be able to review and test a prototype of the custom UI.

The design will be developed and tested for compatibility with all common browsers (IE6/9, Opera, Firefox, Safari, Chrome). If your requirements include a mobile web application, I can also create a custom UI based on jQuery Mobile.

Project Specifications

There are different ways in which you can specify the requirements of your custom APEX theme. Together we will set up a document that will describe the milestones and goals of the project:

Existing Site Design

You can refer to an existing web design, from either your company’s site or application. Simply send me the source (HTML, CSS, Javascript) or URL, and I will convert this into an APEX theme. You may also choose a design from a third party or theme website as reference.

Graphical reference

Send me a sketch or image of your ideas (wireframe, Adobe PSD, PowerPoint, JPG or PNG) or any other graphical reference. I will use this to create a working HTML/CSS prototype you can test and review on-line. The HTML will then be converted into an APEX theme.

From scatch

Specify the subject, audience, functionality and ideas for appearance of your APEX project. Based on our material, I will suggest a design and build a working prototype involving you in every step of the process.

Based on your specifications, the complexity and volume of the project I will make a proposal with a price and a suggested deadline. Building a design from scratch is more expensive (starting at €1200) and will take longer than converting an existing website into an APEX theme (starting at €480).

The implementation is based on the agreed specifications and proposal. During the project, I will contact you frequently to discuss details. As soon as components are ready to be tested, you will be able to access them on my web server and review the layout and functionality. Usually, this will be an HTML prototype to start. As the theme gets implemented in APEX, you will be able to access a demo APEX application that uses the new theme.

Once your custom theme is complete and has been accepted, you will receive all the files required for the installation in your own environment:

  • APEX export of theme (SQL script)
  • Theme folder (following APEX standards) containing CSS, JavaScript and image files.
  • APEX Export of the demo application, used during the project.

Do you want to use the design in a project that does not use the Oracle Application Express framework? No problem! Your custom design can also be converted into a theme for any of the more common CMS systems (Joomla, Drupal, Wordpress, Blogger).
